Is spring right around the corner?! Boy, do we hope so!!

We have been gearing up for quite a busy year. If you didn’t see, we built a greenhouse!! We wanted to be able to grow vegetables for a longer season and not have to worry about the crazy weather we have here in Indiana. Paul made a video about how we built it, and I must say, from genuine construction, it is working perfectly! We will post an update for you guys when we get our starts in the ground! If you want to see the video on how it was constructed, click here!

While Paul was on his building streak, he also built a bunk feeder for our calves. It is important that growing cattle have free choice access to their food. We feed them all the hay they could desire but they need more nutrients that what hay alone can give them. So, we feed a high protein grain diet that is packed with all the essential vitamins and minerals they need to grow big and strong.

Before we put them on the free choice grain diet, we were feeding them twice a day where we were increasing the amount weekly. This prevents over indulgence that can create bloat and harm them. Once they were on what we call “full feed”, which means they were eating all they could for the day and there was some grain left over, we moved them to the bulk feeder. It is working seamlessly and the calves love it! If you were interested how Paul built it, he made a video it too!! Just click here.

Until then, have a happy spring!!!
